Founded in August 2021, META’s founding team hails from Weill Cornell Medicine and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, two world-leading research hospitals, with deep expertise in the emerging field of immunometabolism.
Currently, META’s two most advanced pipeline candidates are an innovative small molecule targeting autoimmune diseases and a small molecule inhibitor for primary hyperoxaluria (PH). The autoimmune candidate has the potential to become a platform-based blockbuster therapy for a broad range of autoimmune indications — from rheumatoid arthritis to systemic lupus erythematosus, from psoriasis to inflammatory bowel disease — addressing a multi-billion dollar market and reshaping the treatment landscape for autoimmune diseases, particularly in a context where current biologics face limitations such as inadequate response rates and inconvenient administration. The PH candidate has received both Orphan Drug Designation (ODD) and Rare Pediatric Disease Designation (RPDD) from the FDA. Related research is progressing steadily, with clinical trial applications planned for subsequent submission.
